My work is rooted in a lifelong fascination with the natural world and the complex systems that sustain it. Growing up in the Netherlands, I spent countless hours exploring dikes, beaches, and waterways, developing an awareness of the rhythms, structures, and interconnectedness found in nature. Later experiences with aquariums, marine life, and diving reinforced an appreciation for the delicate balance between order and change. These observations continue to inform my visual language.

An interest in philosophy further shaped my approach, encouraging me to explore questions of perception, transformation, and the relationships between material and idea. Rather than depicting specific landscapes or organisms, I seek forms that suggest growth, movement, and the dynamic forces present in living systems. Organic forms draw me because they embody energy and continual becoming rather than fixed, static states.

I work across painting, sculpture, and two-dimensional mixed media, selecting materials for their ability to express these ideas. While I continue to paint in oil, I am particularly drawn to encaustic. The medium's combination of pigment and molten beeswax allows layers to be built, fused, scraped back, and reworked, creating surfaces that retain a sense of history and transformation. Its luminosity, depth, and tactile qualities invite both physical and contemplative engagement.

My work is an exploration of process as much as image. Through layered materials and evolving forms, I aim to create works that evoke the vitality, complexity, and quiet energy of the natural world while inviting viewers to reflect on their own relationship with the environments they inhabit.
